On August 6, the Congregation of the Mother of the Redeemer organized their 47th annual Marian Days (Ngày Thánh Mẫu) in Carthage, Missouri. This is the largest gathering of Catholics in the Midwest, averaging around 80,000 to 100,000 people. This year’s event had many daily Holy Masses, conferences, processions and devotions, centered around Mary’s maternal and unfailing intercession.
Heralds at the Marian Days
The Heralds of the Gospel had the opportunity to participate in these Marian Days. At the event, the Priest and Missionary Brothers had a booth that showcased the Charism and Missionary life of the Association. This was a first time encounter for many of the Vietnamese Catholics, who had a pleasant surprise with the Charism and Spirituality.
To the extent, that one of the Brothers was interviewed by the Vietnamese Catholic News and some people even volunteered to distribute Holy Cards!
Marian Days around the Eucharist
There were many Holy Masses celebrated each day, from 7am until midnight. In these, the priest of the Heralds of the Gospel concelebrated along with the Bishops and fellow priests. There were also periods in which the Blessed Sacrament exposed in Eucharistic Adoration.
Marian Devotion and Procession
As the name entails, there were many Marian devotions at this event. One of the which was a Rosary Procession with all the faithful. For this, the Heralds of the Gospel were asked to lead the procession as the Statue of Our Lady of Fatima was carried along.
The faithful also prayed their Consecration to Our Lady, according to the method of St. Louis de Montfort. One of the main devotions of the Heralds of the Gospel.
Brothers and Sisters in Christ
Amidst the different events held throughout these days, was the wonderful opportunity in meeting fellow Brothers and Sisters in the vocation from other congregations. Such as those of the Congregation of Mother of the Redeemer to the Bishops that came from Vietnam.
